Best of KCFORUM.NET - 12th Edition

It's been business as usual this week at KCFORUM.NET. O&A Army has been busy with his new job - hunting for nude internet pics of female celebrities. It doesn't pay well, but he gets plenty of satisfaction from it. The Sin Sister has converted more people into believing that WarDrive is actually KK. She may be right, she may be crazy. Wait. That's a Billy Joel song. Finally, the Urban Dictionary has yet to add my definition of the word "blumper". I am not pleased.

Stay tuned for more suspense and thrills on "As the Forum Turns".

"If a columnist writes for Platte County, does anyone read it?"- Karupt
W: If a dork who has way too much time on his hands creates a site about a forum, does anyone read it?

"Yeah, I once got it on with .31 of a hooker. Don't worry, I got the right .31. Back to back weeks in Westmar's column here I come." - O&A Army
W: I apologize for not using this quote sooner. I've only been using .31 of my brain, lately.

"Rhetorical question: Is it still called a shocker if HawksChief puts 3 fingers in his own azz?" - Original Stonie

"810 has more listeners interested in dirt farming than dirt track racing."-Hot Carl

"Worst looking stripper ever: I stopped at some little hole in the wall place out near 350 highway & Noland road for lunch one day about 9-10 years ago. Only time in my life I ever gave money to a chick to put her clothes back on." - Bubba Clyde
W: There's two reasons why you won't find me in strip clubs anymore. First, you never know what you're going to get when you go. Second, my brother-in-law married the stripper Bubba is referring to, above.

"Bigsexy, you need to drink more, gout is afraid of booze. I can tell you that first hand since I have never had it." - *Tudge*

"She likes the chocolate.. is it so wrong?? Melts in your mouth.." - ChicagoJeff

OTC Comments:

GH: "While I and hundreds of thousands of other Chiefs' fans were dying painful deaths in front of their TV sets with each Raiders' late-game completion, (Trent) Green was seen smiling like Joe Randa on nitrous oxide. Fans will always care more about the wins and losses than the players. It is maddening."
W: Didn't we already go through this a couple of seasons ago with Trent Green? Didn't Whitlock call him out in a column for laughing and smiling on the sideline during a loss, and Green went on the air with Kietzman and actually got a little hell-bent about the criticism? It hasn't become an issue with the media or fans this week because the Chiefs are 7-0 and won the game that Green was smiling during. (Shame on him for smiling) I highly doubt Trent was smiling because he cares less about the wins and losses than the fans.

GH:"If the Raiders are as bad as everyone says, the Chiefs aren't much better. Forget all the talk about the Chiefs' easy second-half schedule. These Chiefs are going to struggle to win every game they play. Enjoy the ones they do win and do not be surprised if they lose to the likes of Chicago, Detroit and Cincinnati."
W: While I agree there's a chance the Chiefs could lose ANY game this season, it's important to take the Chiefs-Raiders game for what it was - a Monday Night Football game. The playing field is automatically altered on Monday night games. This is a well known fact. I doubt the Raiders are as bad as advertised (when healthy) and I know the Chiefs are better than how they played Monday night.

GH: "St. John hosted the Chiefs' pregame show on WHB Monday night and made listeners recall just how talented he is compared to the new voices on 61 Sports...(he brings) real passion born from a life of following and cheering on the Royals, Chiefs and MU Tigers. And he's also funnier than anybody on the AM radio."
W: I never thought I'd agree with something like this, but I do...now. I still stand by the fact that he didn't used to be very good. Apparently, one of two things has happened: 1) Steven St. John has matured as an on-air personality 2) KC sports talk radio is getting even worse than we thought.

GH: "This is Kietzman at his most disingenuous. KK can't stand J.T. The Brick. This interview would have been far more entertaining if KK had treated J.T. with the disdain he actually feels for the syndicated loudmouth talk show host."
W: Greg's right. This is exactly the kind of inconsistency that causes listeners to turn the channel. Leabo recently told me he can't understand why I think KK is a "fence-sitter" because he is so "opinionated". KK's opinions clearly vary according to who he is talking to on the air.

GH: "Since Renshaw replaced Pork Chop at WHB, PC has been taking every opportunity to discredit and degrade Renshaw -- even stooping to posting numerous rumors on kcforum.net that Renshaw was soon to be fired at WHB."
W: Yea! We got another mention! I was surprised our Minsky's event didn't get dropped in a column.

GH:"(Whitlock) was heard on at least one recent occasion arguing loudly with Bill Maas. It was reported by inside sources that Whitlock was speaking to Maas on a phone while inside Entercom's studios and was yelling at his future co-host. It was apparent the yelling was coming from both ends of the conversation and had to do with the future direction of the afternoon show once Maas was clear to join 61 Sports. One Entercom employee said that Whitlock was heard to say to Maas, "I don't know why you gotta bring up the black thing." Tim Grunhard, Maas' former co-host, said he doesn't think Maas and Whitlock will last together a week. It sounds like they might not even make it to the altar."
W: And this surprises...who?

GH: "How can this game NOT be on local television? Someone please make this happen. If Kansas beats K-State in Manhattan, Mark Mangino should be declared the national coach of the year before he gets back on the bus."
W: I agree. It's assinine that this game is not on the dial SOMEWHERE. Embarassing, actually. I've lived in Kansas City for nearly 7 years and I have always had the feeling that something was wrong with the television support for the local NCAA football teams.

GH: "Count me among the few who question just how "great" this Oklahoma team is. Sure, they have a great defense but nothing about their offense - including Heisman hopeful Jason White - looks unbeatable to me."
W: You could say the same thing about the 2001 National Champion Oklahoma Sooners. Defense, defense, defense.

GH: "Grunhard didn't do himself any favors by getting arrested the week his show started. He sounded wooden and uncomfortable to me. He will miss the chemistry he shared with his WHB cohorts more than they will miss him."
W: He'd sound wooden and uncomfortable right now with or without an arrest.

GH: "My reasoning for predicting Rush's radio career is over is that I think his drug problem will cost him his swagger. Limbaugh's success is based on his incredible confidence that he is right on whatever issue is on the table. I just don't see him being able to adjust to the devalued status of being just another rehabbed celebrity."
W: As you know, I am not a fan of Limbaugh's. But to assume that he will not be "able to adjust to the devalued status of being just another rehabbed celebrity" sounds like a generalization to me. Apparently, Greg is comparing Corey Haim and Robert Downey JR to Rush.

GH: "Idiots like Huston, who clocked the Lee's Summit kid, are in every program - Pinkel's included. I would have kicked Huston off the NU team if I were Solich. Nothing makes a statement like action."
W: I agree 100%.

GH: "Pork Chop has been too busy to follow the NFL because he's training for his upcoming marathon. You don't turn a 370-pound body into a 368-pound body by taking weekends off!"
W: Greg, you really HAVE been reading my stuff! 370 pounds...you're finally in the ballpark.

Best of KCFORUM.NET - 11th Edition

I find it intriguing that KC Mouth began a thread this past week about the new kcsportsboard.com that ended up having nothing to do with it before fizzling out. Apparently, no one is intrigued by it/them. I'll admit that I am, though. Why? First and foremost because I made the mistake of zipping through a few of the threads - and they really burned my banana. If you haven't been there, you might check it out - especially some of the stuff under Sports Talk Radio. These posters seem to have an interesting perception of KCFORUM.net.

Under a Turkey Bowl thread at KCFORUM I recently suggested a KCFORUM.net vs kcsportsboard.com Turkey Bowl. I was suggesting it somewhat facetiously, but you never know. Maybe by spring the two boards will have enough of a rivalry to hook up for a charity softball game or something of the sort. Yeah...yeah, I know. Who would come? Hey, I never claimed to have all the answers immediately. It's something to think about, though.

"Methinks the Tiger Board may be a bit self-important." - FrankWhite4Ever
W: Methinks the entire institution may be a bit self-important

"Why does it matter according to statistics whether a household is two parent or not if one parent is continuously (black or white) absent from being a father/mother to their children. I would rather have one really good parent than two absentee parents." - PeteRose

"Hey...hey...Count yourself lucky. As onrey as bbb can be. Count your lucky stars that he didn't challenge everyone to match a dollar for every colonic! Even Warren Buffet might feel that hit on the wallet" - Paintman

"The string on my tin can frayed a bit and then broke...I'll never be able to hear 1340 again!" - Hot Carl

"I'll stop by the grocery store tomorrow night to get some tin foil and maybe I'll be able to pick it up." - hawkchief

"...it's fuggin nuts in my custards..." - ChicagoJeff

"Shut up fatty. This thread is intellectual in subject and content, and thus, way beyond your capabilities. I hear they got ribs half-off at Gates....hear that dinner bell clangin'?" - Soylent Green
W: Comments like this (even if they are aimed at Whitlock) are getting old. We have grown to expect this type of behavior from our underachieving-redheaded-stepchild-of-higher-learning, Hollywood Chuck Rogan. But when Soylent Green spouts off this type of venom after attempting to be Socrates-like in his previous 20 posts, he blows any credibility he might've had as a journalist. Not that there was much to blow...

"Was that Johnny Damon in center field last night? I thought it was unfrozen caveman lawyer. "Your umpires and bright lights confuse and startle me. I'm just a simple centerfielder from the Pleistocene era." The 'roids have cooked Damon's head up to Zimmer-esque proportions." - Hot Carl

"I spend all afternoon getting worked up arguing with a Yankee fan and now people want to come in here start making sense? Stop being logical damn it! You're ruining my pissy mood!" - Bubba Clyde
W: You asked for it, Bubba. Keep reading.

"Studies show that there are more babies born to sexually active women population then those born to those non-active population." - dafella

"$310, hell! I weigh 320 and dude looks to top me." - Twisted Steel
W: I'd have to agree. To think that Whitlock only weighs 310 pounds is quite laughable.

OTC Comments

GH: "(Dante) Hall is no longer with the mother of his two-year-old child. That was quick. If the black race wants to bring about real change they should expend the same amount of energy educating fathers of their importance in the family unit as they do railing against politically correct issues like the Rush Limbaugh incident."
W: It never ceases to amaze me when Hall drops bombs like this in his column to help stir things up a bit. All three sentences of this statement are broad generalizations. Do you hear that sound? It's a cry of ignorance.

GH: "Trent Green was ESPN's Michael Irvin's choice for NFL playmaker of the day for his play at Lambeau. If Sharper could have pulled off the dreaded PickSix on Green, everything from Green's elevated national status to this city's unbridled Chiefs' euphoria would be doused with tears. Life, like football, is a game of inches."
W: The truth is, any criticism of Trent Green by our local media this season has been undeserved. The guy has done nothing but lead his team to victory in six straight regular season games. Super Bowl caliber quarterbacks are the ones who lead by example and do everything their power to not lose the game for their team. Throwing for 300 yards every week does not insure a championship...just ask Rich Gannon (2002) and Kurt Warner (2001).

GH: "Yeah, and if Pork Chop jumps in the air, he's going to come down. When the home team does nothing but win, talk nice and stay out of jail, it's the talk show host's job to cry wolf."
W: That's what I've been saying for weeks. Thanks again for reading my stuff, Greg. (If you don't believe me, check the archives.)

GH: "Was that Cheese Whiz running down the Packs' legs in the fourth quarter?"
W: That sounds like something ChicagoJeff would say.

GH: "Do obnoxious drunks deserve our respect? No, but they don't deserve to be cold cocked either. Guys like the MU drunk and the NU player give fans everywhere a bad name and are one of the reasons that all sporting events will eventually be played behind security walls patrolled by armed guards. All the more reason to keep paying that cable bill."
W: Was what's-his-name out of line when he laid out a Mizzou fan? Absolutely! It was the wrong thing to do, without a doubt. But we don't know the whole story, damn it! And it really torks me off when I hear Kietzman spouting off left and right about how horrible of a thing this is. It was wrong, the player apologized, the team apologized, the player was suspended. What more do you want? Let's move on and shut our mouths, KK.

It's common knowledge that KK despises Nebraska and will take every shot he can at them on the air. This makes listening to his tirades about the incident so unbearable. If the tables were turned and the punch/forearm was thrown by a K-State player, do you think he would be spending so much time yapping about it over the airwaves air?

GH: "I think K-State is the favorite in the North. They can win out and get a shot at Oklahoma at Arrowhead. How wild would it be for Bill Snyder to win his first conference crown with a three-loss team? Stranger things have happened."
W: I'll eat my hat if the Wildcats run the table.

GH: "Grunhard had spent Saturday evening at St. Ann's parish auction where alcohol was readily available for the high-roller Prairie Village/Mission Hills clientele. Grunhard was arrested by Prairie Village police for DUI early Sunday morning after leaving St. Ann's on 73rd and Mission Road - less than two miles from his home. Ironically, Grunhard contributed six Chiefs tickets to the Lions game and a limousine ride as an auction item. That limo would have come in handy Sunday morning. If Grunhard weren't the father of four and an assistant coach on a high school football team, this might be good publicity for his new radio show which starts up this week on 610 AM. But he is and it's not. This Big Dog just got bit by the hair of the dog."
W: The irony? How many of you were "shocked" by Grunny's DUI? Let's be honest, folks. It would've been a bigger story (to us) if it'd been Leabo who received the DUI. DUI's, while still very wrong, have become such a regular occurence among the famous that most of them don't even phase me. This incident will have no ill effect on Grunny's show.

GH: "OU goes down to KSU 24-23 at Arrowhead for the Cats first conference title."
W: Suuuuurrrre!

GH: "Rush should have forced Disney to fire him. Resigning makes him look fake. But Rush has far more problems than his ESPN resignation. His embarrassing drug addiction will very likely end his broadcast career."
W: The combination of his big mouth on ESPN and his drug problem might cause a break in his career, but it certainly will not end it.

It's been a busy and crazy several days for me. There have been numerous quotes worthy of appearing on this site, but unfortunately I have been slacking and nothing is appearing with this update. So shoot me.

Our KCFORUM.NET Convention was a success last week...not that I'm exactly sure what we were trying to accomplish. I'd also like to extend a special thanks to Greg Hall, KK, and Leabo for showing up. It was a pleasure to meet you all. Let's do it again. Next time I'll drink water.

OTC Comments

GH: "(Len) Dawson was on the Chiefs’ roster when the team was the Dallas Texans. He qualifies as having been around and seen a few games."
W: But as we all know, this doesn't automatically make him a good NFL analyst in the 21st Century.

GH: "…just as many Broncos’ fans believe Julian Battle clipped on Hall’s return."
W: I've seen the replay as many times as anyone and I'm still not certain it was a block in the back. Remember, I'm not from here...I'm not a biased homer. Besides, if every penalty on the field that was committed was actually seen and called by an official, it would take 6 hours to play a game. This alleged "no-call" reminds me of a familiar antecdote: If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound when it hits the ground?

GH:"Analysts have been blasting Shanahan for not kicking the ball away from Hall. His question is a good one - where are you going to kick the ball? Do you give the Chiefs’ offense and Priest Holmes the ball on the 40 after every kickoff? Do you try and punt to the sideline and risk 10-yard punts? If teams get it in their heads that they can’t kick to Dante, the Chiefs have the battle for field position won before the game starts. You can’t avoid a great kick returner without sacrificing huge chunks of field position."
W: I realize it's not fair for me to comment on this after watching how the Packers handled Dante on Sunday...the irony of it is, even though Green Bay had some success with the methods Greg described above, Dante still had a couple of pretty doggone good returns.

GH: "You think $30 mill is too much for a guy who wins four, five or six games a year for your team? Me either."
W: An extreme exaggeration here. That's all I'll say.

GH: "(Trent) Green has been the favorite whipping boy this season for most fans who point to him as the reason the offense has under performed. I’ve long believed that Green was/is no more than a mediocre quarterback who has benefited from the Vermeil Blessing - which he bestows on his favorite sons. You will not see a better throw under pressure by a quarterback this season than the third-down TD pass Green laid over the Bronco defender and into the hands of Tony Gonzalez for the Chiefs’ first touchdown. But his lack of arm strength and his knack of hitting opposing defenders in the chest with passes are causes for concern."
W: Again, I know it's easy for me to say this now...but I wonder how the Trent Green bashers feel after the Green Bay game. Green threw for 400 yards to help offset his team's non-existent running game, and his perfectly thrown long ball won it in overtime.

GH:"GH: Oh how I would enjoy watching a young, nimble QB with a laser arm lead the Chiefs’ offense. But that would mean drafting a quarterback before the fifth round."
W: My early suggestion for the Chiefs first round pick in the upcoming 2004 draft is to draft a running back.

GH: "GH: Television broadcasts continue to make the fan at home glad he’s in his easy chair instead of a $60 seat at the stadium. This new graphic was very cool. I can see it being expanded to convey all kinds of data in a colorful, creative way."
W: I agree. I think it's dynamite! As long as they don't start to use a blue highlight to track the movement of the football like Fox used to do with the puck for NHL games...

GH:"Jack (Harry) sounded a little ticked at the K-State fans and even a tad pleased that their club is now 4-2. Losing in Austin by four is certainly no disgrace. K-State still has a VERY good team, just not the 15-0 team that a few crazed Purple People thought they had. The game in Stillwater Saturday is HUGE."
W: Now with a 4-3 record, I wonder if Greg still considers them a "VERY good team."

GH: "How many people tuned into WHB after the K-State/Texas game to hear the Red Sox game? Powered by WHAT?!?!"
W: The air talent.

GH: "Nebraska has the defense to beat Mizzou but the Big Red-in-the-face offense from 2002 is back for 2003. I think MU upsets my Huskers 13-10 in Columbia for their first win over NU since James Wilder ran roughshod over the ‘Skers in 1978."
W: It was par for the course when KK told me he thought it was a 50-50 game. But when Husker Hall came out with this prediction I should've bet the house.

GH: "I was disappointed that Limbaugh resigned from his ESPN position. He has continued to say he said nothing inappropriate on the NFL Countdown show. So why did he roll over and quit if he thought he was in the right? Society evolves for the good when men and women are willing to stand for what they believe even when everyone else in the room is cowering."
W: So basically what you're sayin is he should've held his ground and forced ESPN to fire him, making a bigger deal out of his "what's-the-big-deal-I'm-just-giving-my-opinion comment" than it was. If it was really not an offensive comment, we should all forget that Rush was even on ESPN and move on, the same way I hope to forget that Emmitt ever played in a Cardinals uniform.

GH: "I doubt Al spends as much time preparing for the games as he does preparing that unique comb-over of his. What is that called, early Julius Caesar?"
W: It IS a bad hair-do. I think I mentioned it in a previous update. Greg, you really ARE reading my stuff. Thank you!

GH: "The Chiefs didn’t dress LJ again for the Broncos game. Not a good sign if you’re LJ or the guy who drafted him."
W: I still can't believe they used a first round pick on this guy when they could've drafted an impact-defensive player who'd be starting for them next weekend at Green Bay.

GH: "Rain and tradition were KU’s biggest problems against Northwestern. Kansas should beat Colorado, Baylor, A&M and Iowa State. That’s eight wins."
W: If KU finishes with eight wins, I'll eat my hat.

Best of KCFORUM.NET - 10th Edition
Email Westmar anytime at orphusrules@yahoo.com

Our KCFORUM.NET Convention/Get-Together will be taking place this Thursday, Oct. 9th, 5 PM, at Minsky's, 427 Main. Stop on by even if it's just for a few minutes. We're expecting to have a fantastic time!

KCFORUM.NET QUOTES

"Is anyone here planning on going anywhere to watch the game tonight? I know it doesn't look to be much of an excitement...but anything can be made better with beer. Just ask Tudge's lovers." - comedygal
W: Maybe I should try listening to KK with a few Coronas under my belt.

"If I had been a major league baseball player I woulda hit more than 62...chicks that is." - HuskerBen

"One of the Benefits of Clinkscale having his head so deep in KK's azz is that Clinkscale's mullet will give Kevin the fiber he's lacking." - dafella

"Talking to WW and pushing Leabos head into his crotch is multitasking." - Karupt

"He (Kietzman) did have some concerns about how to include the listeners (in the Turkey Bowl). If 500 people e-mailed that they wanted to play and you could only take ten, you make 490 people mad. We are trying to find a way to include listeners that doesn't tick them off. Maybe a random draw or something." - leabonics
W:The fact that a random drawing wasn't used in the first place tells the story of just how out-of-hand this charity event had gotten - a couple of 30-something, has-been athletes getting WAY TOO competitive for a meaningless game. Remember how meticulous they had gotten about choosing their listener-players?

"He (Leabo) just played me to get a rise out of me. nice one. score one for leabo. doesn't come close to me making a fool out of h2k and getting him to confess his divorce. but it's still a nice little victory. score one for their team." - bigsexy
W: KK's paranoia began to show through when he decided to go on the air and tell all three of his listeners that he's getting a divorce. I must admit, Whitlock helped make this happen.

"No disrespect to the people in here... but I don't think they're representative of what the rest of the public thinks on this one...Sorry...I just don't think we should take the advice of the people in here on how to raise money for charity and help promote the event...I'm just calling it like I see it. I don't think your opinions DON'T count. I just think that they are clearly in the minority" - leabonics
W: Translation: Even though you were once the core of our listening audience, we don't think you guys know squat. Besides, I couldn't get anything changed around here if I wanted to.

"...I gotta tell you, in this forum he has told us all many times how unimportant our opinions are. That doesn't sound like "powered by fans" to me. Whitlock has told us how stupid we are and how we should think, but he doesn't tell us we don't matter. and he keeps asking for our opinions even when guys come on here just to rip him." - buckybadgersbrother

"How about a Hot Dog Eating Contest between JW and Moehart?" - Karupt

"Let's see you losers have been surfing to this site longer so you think you are somehow better. I thought you could talk about the kc sports scene here but I guess I've been quieted by the establishment. What ever, I didn't realize this was a private board and not everyone is welcome. Happy trails...One less "newbie" for you to worry so much about." - MizSucks
W: We were all "newbies" once. Apparently MizSucks couldn't handle the initiation.

"Is Greg Hall buying the pizza? Or will he have his notepad, pen and minidisc recorder? Will his next column have quotes from Minsky's?" - Intense one
W: Probably not. But there will be an internet radio show hosted by yours truly.

OTC Comments

GH:"Pork Chop had Cross on his Monday afternoon show, the day after the Chiefs won in Baltimore. I was eager to hear the Chiefs fans voice their venom toward Cross in person. But when asked if he would accept a couple of calls from listeners, Cross mumbled, “Yeah, a couple.” Pork Chop then ran interference for Cross as if he were trying to protect the final rib on a Gates’ President’s Platter. Porky even hung up on Tommy Mo, who had called to challenge Cross’ perceived Chiefs’ prejudice. Cross makes big money talking tough on the telly. He should be tough enough to handle some irate football fans’ ire, even if it is misplaced."
W: And this is exactly why Randy Cross is misplaced in the NFL as a professional T.V. color analyst. It's not that he said anything that offended me as a Chiefs supporter last Sunday. My issue lies more with the fact that, no matter who's playing, he's often inaccurate and over-reacts. To me, he's the Bill Walton of the NFL.

GH: "When there are three all-sports radio station in a market with only two professional sports franchises (sorry Wiz), you are going to get controversy even when it doesn’t exist from the talking heads. The Chiefs are 4-0 for only the second time in the franchise’s history, but postgame comments from hosts on 610 and 810 made them sound like the Bears in waiting."
W: I've been saying it all over the forum: KC Sports Talk has nothing to talk about right now because the Chiefs are 4-0. This is obvious by the way the local media has tried to create their own controversies by questioning the Chiefs performance against the Ravens.

GH: "Weber considers the KSU fan base so fragile that he refuses to say ANYTHING remotely negative about the Cats’ football program."
W: Which really doesn't give him much credibility, does it?

GH: "In my opinion, if Wild Bill (Whittemore) were black they’d be talking about his athleticism and speed."
W: I wonder what Greg's pal, Rush, would say about this.

GH: "If you expect to be a contending program in a conference like the Big 12, please do not act like a home win over Missouri is as rare as a Mangino sighting at Sweet Tomatoes."
W: I prefer Souper Salad.

GH: "If (B.J.) Symons numbers can be duplicated simply by implementing the same offensive system as (Texas) Tech uses, why isn’t every offense running this system? Because it’s not simply the system. Symons deserves his due but he won’t get it without a defense to help him win some big games."
W: The system might put up big numbers for a quarterback, but it doesn't necessarily win ball games, which is why it's not more frequently used. It's easily defended with a solid secondary because it lacks a consistent running game.

GH: "David Glass is a business man first, second and third. Feel warm and fuzzy all you want about “your home town Royals,” but don’t ever forget that these guys are ruthless cutthroat businessmen who are ruled solely by the bottom line. Just ask Gamboa."
W: Let's be honest, though. Everyone knew (including Gamboa himself) that he would be let go at the end of the season. Getting demoted from firstbase coach to bullpen coach is usually a good sign. 2003 was a gift-season to Gamboa for enduring a beating from two drunk ChiSox fans in 2002.

GH: "If you are feeling underwhelmed by the sports talk radio wars during drive time, check out 980’s Russ Johnson. He is as irreverent as ever and loves to pimp his less-than-with-it callers - two of my favorite traits in a smart-aleck host."
W: I wonder if he needs a side-kick.
